Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s The River Tour 2016 ranks as the year’s biggest in both Billboard and Pollstar, as the tour continues to blaze across Europe, drawing raves and setting sales records. The 75-show U.S. and European tour, which grossed $170.7 million in the first six months of 2016 and is nearing 2 million ticket sales, has filled 25 stadiums and open-air shows in 15 countries.

Springsteen and the band are thrilling some of their biggest audiences ever. More than 160,000 fans flocked to see three sold-out concerts in Spain, where the 12-week European leg of the tour began in May. With sets approaching the four-hour mark and including more than 30 songs a night, a Springsteen concert in 2016 is “a marathon which felt like a sprint,” according to the U.K.’s The Evening Standard.

“If this isn’t magic, then nothing else is,” proclaimed leading British daily The Guardian after a May concert in Manchester, England, that included a late-spring rendition of “Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town” — just 214 days before Christmas. U2’s Bono joined Springsteen to sing “Because the Night” on the first of a two-night stand that drew 160,000 to Dublin, Ireland’s Croke Park. Springsteen blew out the power during “Ramrod” in Paris’ AccorHotels Arena one night and signed autographs for 20 minutes before playing another hour when the lights came back up.

Gothenburg, Sweden, sold out two shows totaling 125,000 and was treated to the European leg’s longest set at three hours, 58 minutes. More than 100,000 fans greeted Springsteen in Milan, Italy, welcoming him by spelling out “Dreams are alive tonight” in teal and white across an entire level of Stadio San Siro.

Springsteen’s European trek continues through July 31, as he returns to Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. He’ll play a third stadium date in Gothenburg, bringing his total for the Swedish city to a previously unheard-of 190,000 tickets. The run wraps at the 50,000-capacity Stadion Letzigrund in Zurich, Switzerland.

Springsteen will resume The River Tour 2016 Aug. 23 at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium, where he will play three shows. He’ll play stadiums for seven of the 10 upcoming U.S. dates. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s tour will conclude its 2016 run with a Sept. 14 show in Foxborough, MA, at Gillette Stadium.

Next up will be the worldwide release of Springsteen’s gripping 500-page memoir, ‘Born to Run,’ coming Sept. 27.
